Requirements for Cleaning Services
In order to ensure that you have everything you need before you start taking bookings on Taskly, we’ve compiled a quick checklist of the key things you’ll need. We've also included information about what each type of clean entails.
Please ensure you have read this article and have a thorough understanding of what you need to be able to deliver this type of service, and understand what is involved in each kind of clean, e.g. standard vs. deep.
Cleaning Services Equipment:
- Vacuum: A good vacuum cleaner is essential. Look for one with attachments for upholstery, hard floors, and hard-to-reach places.
- Microfiber Mops and Buckets: These are best for cleaning tile and wooden floors. The microfiber cloth effectively traps dust and grime.
- Cleaning Solutions: You'll need a range of cleaners for different surfaces - kitchen, bathroom, glass, etc. Consider eco-friendly options for clients who prefer them.
- Microfiber Cloths and Sponges: Microfiber cloths are great for dusting and polishing. Sponges are handy for general cleaning tasks.
- Protective Gloves: Protect your hands when dealing with harsh cleaning products.
- Scrub Brushes: These are useful for tough grime and stains in bathrooms or kitchens.
- Garbage Bags: Always carry spare garbage bags to replace the ones you fill up.
- Toothbrush: An old toothbrush is perfect for cleaning tight corners, grout lines, and other intricate areas.
- Ladder or Step Stool: This may be necessary for reaching high shelves or light fixtures.
- Buckets: Useful for carrying water, mixing cleaning solutions, or carrying cleaning tools.
- Window Cleaning Tools: A squeegee and scraper can be helpful for windows.
- Paper Towels: While microfiber cloths are reusable and eco-friendly, there might be situations where you need disposable paper towels for hygiene purposes.
- Dusters: This would be useful for hard-to-reach spots and delicate items like light fixtures and ceiling fans.
- (Optional) Extension Pole: For high places, an extension pole works well for dusting or window washing.
Note: If you are offering more specialised cleaning services you should also have the following:
(OPTIONAL) IF You Offer Carpet/Upholstery Cleaning and/or Deep Cleaning
- Steam Cleaner: A steam cleaner can be a versatile tool in your arsenal, perfect for deep cleaning carpets, hard floors, upholstery, and even tiles and grout.
(OPTIONAL) IF You Offer Deep Cleaning and/or Oven Cleaning
- Oven Cleaner: This is a heavy-duty cleaning solution specifically designed to cut through burnt-on grease and food residue. Make sure to select one that's safe for the type of ovens you'll be cleaning (self-cleaning, non-self-cleaning, etc.). Some people prefer using baking soda and vinegar, which can also be effective but might require more elbow grease.
- Protective Gloves: Oven cleaners can be pretty strong, so heavy-duty, heat-resistant gloves are important to protect your skin.
- Scraper: A plastic scraper can be helpful for removing hardened food residues without damaging the oven's surface.
- Non-Scratch Scouring Pads: These are needed for scrubbing the oven interiors without scratching.
- Old Towels or Rags: To protect the kitchen floor and wipe out the oven after the cleaning process is complete.
- Protective Goggles and Mask: The fumes from oven cleaners can be strong, so a mask and goggles can provide protection.
- Plastic Bags: If the oven racks need soaking, a large, heavy-duty plastic bag can provide a place to do this.
Cleaning Service Standard Room Checklists:
The following outlines the expected duties that are required to be completed for rooms that customers have booked you to clean. Note: Some customers may have custom cleaning requests, so this list is not exhaustive - you should complete what you can for the time that they have booked and communicate this to them, e.g. some customers might request you to wash their internal windows in a room.
